BRIG-GEN IM YUSUF DSS FCM FTAM psc (j) psc(+) ndc(BG) fdc (+) MA MIAD MoSS
Brig Gen Ibrahim Manu Yusuf was commissioned second lieutenant on 22 September 1990 and posted into the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps. He has attended several military courses both at home and abroad and has held a number of command, staff and instructional appointments. Some of these appointments include: command at platoon and company levels in reconnaissance battalions, Aide de Camp and later Military Assistant to the ECOMOG Force Commander, Military Assistant to the Military Secretary and also, Military Assistant to the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy. He was an instructor in the Nigerian Defence Academy and the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps Centre and School. He served as a Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College as well as National Defence College. He was a Course Director at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Accra Ghana. Brig Gen Yusuf served in the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Training Centre as Chief Instructor and was also the Deputy Director Force Generation, Army Headquarters Department of Operations. He also served as Commander 21 Armoured Brigade during Operation ZAMAN LAFIYA.
Prior to his posting to the Nigerian Defence Academy as Registrar, he was the Director Campaign Planning at Army Headquarters Department of Operations. He is a graduate of the Joint Services Command and Staff College United Kingdom and National Defence College Bangladesh. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the Ahmadu Bello University Nigeria as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Defence Studies from Kings College London. Yusuf as well, holds a Masters’ degree in Strategic Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management from the Chartered Management Institute of the United Kingdom and is a member of the Institute. He has attended professional courses at the Naval Postgraduate School USA and Norwegian Defence International Centre Norway amongst others. He is a visiting resource person to both KAIPTC Ghana and the International Peace Support Training Centre Karen Nairobi. He is married to Aisha Baba-Gimba and blessed with 2 boys (Aliyu and Muhammad) and 2 girls (Zainab and Zulaiha). He enjoys jogging and reading biographies of great military leaders.
